Are you an experienced building or energy surveying professional looking for an opportunity to help improve the energy efficiency and quality of people's homes?

We're looking for a Contract Delivery Surveyor (Retrofit) to join our Property Investment team at Midland Heart, supporting the delivery of high-quality retrofit and maintenance works across our housing portfolio.

You'll play an important role in assessing property condition and energy performance, overseeing contractor delivery and ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and to the required standards.

This is an opportunity to use your technical expertise to make a real difference to our homes, helping us deliver improvements that benefit our tenants while achieving value for money.

What will you be doing?

As our Contract Delivery Surveyor (Retrofit), you'll support the delivery of retrofit and maintenance programmes, working closely with contractors, colleagues and tenants.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Energy Performance & Building Surveys: Undertaking regular EPC and RdSAP surveys, alongside building condition assessments to support planned retrofit and maintenance works.
  • Retrofit Compliance: Monitoring and reviewing contractors' assessment, design, coordination and evaluation activities against PAS 2030 and PAS 2035 requirements, interrogating their submissions and challenging contractors where appropriate to ensure compliance.
  • Contractor Performance: Monitoring contractors and subcontractors to ensure works are completed to the required quality standards, timescales and contractual KPIs.
  • Quality & Compliance: Inspecting completed works, identifying defects and ensuring compliance with building regulations, health and safety requirements and the Decent Homes Standard.
  • Financial & Contract Monitoring: Supporting budget management, monitoring contract performance and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and value for money.
  • Tenant Experience: Working with contractors and internal teams to ensure works are delivered with minimal disruption and a consistently high standard of customer service.

What are we looking for?

We're looking for someone with a good technical understanding of building construction, energy performance and retrofit requirements, alongside experience working with contractors to deliver quality property improvements.

You'll be confident identifying building defects, monitoring standards and working collaboratively to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently and with tenants' needs in mind.

Our ideal candidate? Your CV will clearly demonstrate:

  • A relevant qualification in building, construction, M&E or site management, or equivalent technical expertise gained through significant relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge or experience of undertaking EPC and RdSAP surveys, including assessing domestic property energy performance.
  • Knowledge or experience of retrofit assessments and compliance requirements, including PAS 2030 and PAS 2035, alongside relevant building regulations and construction standards.
  • Experience overseeing or monitoring contractors delivering property maintenance, retrofit or improvement works, including assessing quality, compliance and performance.

You'll also need a full, valid driving licence. A Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) qualification and membership of an approved accreditation scheme are required, or you'll need to be willing to work towards these.

The role also includes participation in an on-call / standby rota, typically once per year.
