We're one team working together for our tenants

There’s no better place to build your career than with us.  Working together, we’ve delivered exceptional services for our tenants for over a century and offer our colleagues meaningful careers in an organisation with a strong social purpose.

As a leading and nationally-recognised Housing Association, we’re people focussed, inclusive and professional. These are the three values that unite our colleagues and, if this sounds like you, then you belong with us.

Whether you’re a practical person, creative, technical, or a problem solver – we can offer you a diverse range of tailored apprentice and graduate opportunities to help you grow and reach your potential.

Apprenticeships

Join our apprenticeship programmes and kickstart your career in fields like Technology, Construction, Professional Services, Trades, and Sustainability. We offer hands-on experience, professional qualifications, and support from industry leaders, mentors, and our Talent Development team. Partnering with award-winning academic institutions in the Midlands, we ensure you receive an exceptional learning experience and career guidance every step of the way.

Rewards & benefits

Internships

Our paid internships give you a look at what life with us is like, and everything a career in housing has to offer. Whether you’ve got a clear career path in mind or you’re still thinking about what’s possible, we have opportunities across a variety of housing, professional services and technical areas to inspire and develop you.

From transformational projects to everyday operations, you’ll get plenty of hands-on experience that will set you up for success in your career and boost your CV. You’ll be treated as a valued member of our team, enjoying a real role – with real responsibilities – meaning you'll have a real opportunity to make a difference.

At the start, we’ll agree ambitious goals for you and assign you a mentor who will support you on your journey.  You'll work closely with your Manager and wider team to help achieve your goals and make sure you feel at home. It’ll be challenging but, if you nail it, you could be offered a graduate role or other opportunity with us.

Find what’s right for you

Application process
  • Apply online
We don’t need a CV or cover letter for you to apply to our early career opportunities – instead just complete our online application form, which may require you to record a short video.

  • Hear back
Our dedicated Resourcing Team will contact you with news on your application. If you’re successful, we’ll invite you along to an Assessment Centre where you can showcase the skills and behaviours required for a successful career with us.

  • Offer
We’ll share the results of your Assessment Centre with you as soon as possible. If you’re successful, we’ll then confirm your offer verbally and in writing via email. If you're unsuccessful, we'll give you the opportunity for feedback to help you succeed in future assessments.

  • Next Steps
Before your first day, you’ll receive all the information you need to help you feel confident when you come through the door. You’ll have the chance to ask as many questions as you need, and we’ll let you know what to expect during your first few weeks with us.

Getting to know you

We think assessments give you the best possible opportunity to show us what you're made of - and they give you a great chance to get a feel for the job. Our priority is giving you the opportunity to demonstrate that you have the skills and behaviours needed to succeed in your chosen role with us.

Our early careers assessments: what to expect?
  • Assessment Centre
Our assessment centres are held in a group format and give us an opportunity to see how you work alongside other people. The tasks for these kind of interviews will differ depending on the role, but come prepared to communicate openly with your peers, hold some difficult conversations and show off your team working skills.

  • Panel Interview
This will be something most people are used to; a question and answer style interview. The questions we ask will be designed around the key elements of the role you applied for – whether that’s being a successful team leader or a more technical role such as Cyber Security - so make sure you're prepared with some examples that show you at your best.

Assessments and the process

  • Practical assessment

Some of our assessments will include a practical element to mirror the day-to-day role that you'd be doing. It’s nice and simple - whatever it is you'll spend the majority of your time doing in the job, we'll get you to do on the day. It's a great chance for us to get a feel for each other and see if we're a good fit!

    Role Play

We find that role play can be a really good way to see how you react to real-life situations and digest information as it's presented to you. While we want to see how you react to this in real time, we'll give you as much information as we can beforehand as well as giving you some time to prepare on the day.

    Psychometric testing

We'll let you know in advance what kind of testing you’ll take and we’ll give you as much information as we can so you can get prepared. This could be anything from leadership to personality testing.

  • Presentation

We might ask you to prepare a presentation as part of your assessment. We'll give you information and guidance on what we expect, and will also provide you with any data you might need to analyse and present. Remember, confidence is key!

    Shadow shift

This is nice and simple – we'll get you to come in and complete a portion of a shift! This is a great opportunity to see how you perform in the job role, in real time – and for you to understand what your day-to-day would look like and meet some potential colleagues.
